How to Write a Child Book?

Children have their own mysterious world where they keep crawling every single day and night. Children have simple emotions, simple feelings and simple ways of interpreting things. The books that they read is their only gateway to the outside world, the only way they increase their creative and imaginative powers. And so among all writing jobs, writing a child book is the most difficult ones. Here are some basic tips to write a good and attractive child book.

Children have very less interpretation powers, yet they are overtly imaginative. So if you are writing a child book and you write it on politics, corruption or some other heavy matter, even the brightest kid would not be able to make out anything. Instead choose lighter topics. A fairy tale or simple tales of a frog or a monkey are the most appealing child topics. Create your whole book around children, which attracts children the most. You can try introducing a main child character and his many friends.

Do not move too fast like a thriller novel. Keep steady pace revealing simple things and topics so that the children are able to understand every single word of the book. Always be cautious bout not writing any illicit and unethical content in the book because the child’s brain is like water, it takes the shape of the container every time. Books read in the childhood, always have a long lasting effect on a person and his life.

Do not make the book over voluminous because more no of pages mean that the children will soon get bored about this whole reading thing. A book well under 40 pages is an ideal book for children. Children are emotionally very immature so do not create scenes of miseries and deaths in your books because that can affect the child’s mind adversely. Make the book a joy to read by adding pictures every alternate page. Pictures have a self explanatory power that makes children understand the book even better. And finally do not use heavy words of the renaissance period; the child will not be able to decipher it. For example if you want to say that animals of the forest exulted, it would be better to say that he animals of the forest were very happy.

In a nutshell, if you have to write a book for children you have to get into the skin of a child first. An occasional meeting with some children and finding out their needs will not be a bad idea. So use clear cut concise language and light subject to write a good child book.
